Parents and educators usually tend to agree on the education and services a child with disability should receive in order to continue on a successful path in school. This is not always the case. Parents and educators can use mediation to resolve disagreements about a child’s special education needs. The focus is to find a solution that is in the best interests of the child, and all decisions are made by the participating parents and educators as they know the child best. Special education mediation offers parents and school districts an opportunity to resolve issues or conflicts in a timely, non-adversarial manner. This collaborative approach will guarantee that the child will benefit from the best outcome.
