Master Conflict Resolution Specialist Program
The Center for Continuing Education Mediation and Arbitration program is designed to accommodate all levels of education and experience, from individuals in the legal field (judges, lawyers and paralegals) or in business, to entry level students and lifelong learners. Alternative dispute resolution theory is taught through classroom exercises geared to the adult learner and provides tools easily implemented for success.
The CCE Master Conflict Resolution Specialist Certificate is awarded upon successful completion of Sections 1-6 (152 hours).

Section 1: Basic Mediation
Discover the foundational skills and process of facilitative mediation, along with the study of different forms of alternative dispute resolution. Topics include: introduction to dispute settlement; conflict theory, principles of negotiation, mediation process, role of a positive neutral (‘peacemaker’), managing impasse, communication skills, and ethics. Successful completion of this program will equip each student with the life skills and tools necessary to mediate conflicts and qualify for advanced mediation training programs
Section 2: General Civil Mediation
Prerequisite: Completion of Basic Mediation Training or Juris Doctorate Degree,or other relevant experience/ training may be considered,contact for qualifications 810-750-9400.
This Michigan State Court Administrative Office (SCAO) MCR 2.411 approved training course includes:
attorney’s role in the mediation process, advanced conflict resolution concepts, court processes, diversity issues, mediation process and techniques, negotiation dynamics, dealing with multiple parties and standards of conduct for mediators.

Section 3: MI General Law for Non Attorney Mediators
An overview/summary of Michigan basic laws, rules and guidelines governing Michigan civil actions for mediators who will practice in the area of commercial and domestic relations mediation.

Section 4: Domestic Relations Mediation
Prerequisite: Completion of Basic Mediation Training or Juris Doctorate Degree,or other relevant experience/ training may be considered contact for qualifications 810-750-9400.
This comprehensive SCAO MCR 3.216 approved training course is for mediators who want to deal with all types of family (traditional & alternative lifestyles) and divorce issues.
Topics include: family mediation theory and process, emotional issues, advanced communication skills, children’s issues, custody and support, parenting time arrangements, property division, power balancing, domestic violence and abuse, tax implications, pension and other financial concerns, building future relationships and ethics.
This comprehensive SCAO MCR 3.216 approved training course is for mediators who want to deal with all types of family (traditional & alternative lifestyles) and divorce issues.
Topics include: family mediation theory and process, emotional issues, advanced communication skills, children’s issues, custody and support, parenting time arrangements, property division, power balancing, domestic violence and abuse, tax implications, pension and other financial concerns, building future relationships and ethics.

Prerequisite: Domestic Relations Mediation
This SCAO MCR 3.216 approved training is a requirement to participate as a qualified domestic relations mediator.
Topics include: determining the appropriateness of mediation as it relates to domestic abuse and child neglect, nature and dynamics of abuse, violence theory, emotional issues, communication skills, conducting the domestic violence screening protocol, specialized mediation process and techniques, balancing of power, personal protection orders and no contact orders, safe termination of mediation and confidentiality.
